There is no greater picture of what God does than in the Bible. The Old Testament, though, gives us a clear view of the voice of God speaking to the world. At that time it was known among the people that the Prophets of Yahweh spoke and it came to pass. From all over the kingdoms, this was well known.
Isaiah is a good example of such prophesying saying to all the nations, the very word of Yahweh. Isaiah spoke the word given to him, thus this word became a Prophetic utterance, which God would fulfill. Â It is God the Lord who sends his word and the servant speaks. Thus Yahweh confirms the word spoken by his servants the prophets. For they have heard his Word and thus spoken it. It becomes active and the very nature of Gods Word, full of faith will bring the prophetic word to pass.
As Isaiah says of this: Isaiah 44:26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers.
Â
The prophet in the Old Testament took on many burdens. This was the result of the Word God had given them. They would carry this Word; it became a burden, so to speak, that they would carry. To relieve this burden, they must speak the Word given.
Here is a small sampling of such prophetic burdens and the word the prophet was to give became specific.
Isaiah 15:1 ¶The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
Isaiah 17:1 ¶The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Isaiah 18:1 ¶Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:
Isaiah 19:1 ¶The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
The prophetic word given usually was to a specific place, event, or time. It concerned the right of Yahweh to challenge the nation’s sovereignty as the Lord God who ruleth the nations. Nations thought they could do what they wanted without any reprisals from Yahweh. They were wrong. So too, this day and age in which we live, nations cannot do as they please for they will answer to the Lord God.Â
The Prophets stand in stark contrast to the worldly prophets we see today. These prophets warned nations and peoples to fear the Lord and serve him. Many today speak peace and blessings. They preach and predict sugar coated visions that they have dreamed up. Many are not prophets at all, but pseudo-prophets who will answer to God for their worldly prophesying. The prophets in the Old Testament stand alone in their stalwart opposition to those who they were sent. Many times they would stand alone speaking the oracles God had given them. They would write upon tablets the vision and word God had given them. They would live and walk in visible demonstration of what God wanted.
For example Isaiah was said to have walked naked and barefoot for three years for a sign to the people. Hosea was another prophet who, upon the Lords direction made a visible sign to the people. This sign was for the prophet Hosea to marry a wife of whoredoms to illustrate that the people had committed great whoredoms against the Lord.
Isaiah 20:3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;
Hosea 1:2 ¶The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.
Today, even though, we do not walk in the Old Testament law, Gods word is still in full force. Many prophecies are still to come to pass. These concern the last days, Israel, and even the Gentile nations. Here is one prophecy that along with others of the Day of Lord will come to pass. This is one prophecy that you should prepare for. No man, nation, or people who oppose the Lord will stand on the Day of the Lord. All will come under his Word.
Isaiah spoke this word:
Isaiah 13:6 ¶Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
The modern church has restructured the office of prophet today. It is different. Many times a prophet today can predict something and still be considered a Prophet. In Isaiah’s day, to give one false prophesy, would be the end. So these Prophets had to hear the Lords word. Today, though, the internet, the churches, and society at large are full of these pseudo-prophets and apostles. All who speak well, look nice, and perform in front of people what the religious establishment desires. The true office of Prophet has not changed. The true definition of a prophet has not changed. The true signs of a Prophet have not changed.
The Lord speaks to a prophet by making himself known to the prophet in a vision or speaks to him in a dream.
 Numbers 12:6  And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
The test of a true Prophet: If what he says does not come to pass, then the prophet has spoken presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him.
 Deuteronomy 18:20  But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
The true Prophet who has received Gods word is to speak that word. This word becomes like a hammer which will break the rock in pieces. In other words, no other word will stand next to the Prophet who speaks Gods word in truth.
Â
Jeremiah 23:28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.
29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
The Lord will answer those who are full of idolatry according to the multitude of his idols. It the man who has idols in his heart comes to the prophet of the Lord, then the Lord will answer that man according to the multitude of his idols.
 Ezekiel 14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
False Prophets or a dreamer of dreams can show signs or wonders which will come to pass and will reveal to you another God to serve. This is a warning, for God proves us to know whether we truly love the Lord our God with all our heart and soul.
Deuteronomy 13:1 ¶If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 Â And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
The above warning is for this generation and for the church. For God is calling today. He is calling the wicked to repent and the church to be ready as well. If you refuse the Lord, then beware, for he will choose your delusions and bring your fears upon you.
Â
Isaiah 66:4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
This warning is especially vivid and will come to pass in light of the “son of Perdition†who will come with deceiving signs and wonders. These are signs and wonders which will be signs and wonders that come to pass. They will convince people to follow him and his ways. But these signs, although they came to pass, mislead you and are deceiving signs. For they lead you away from the true God and the True Savior Jesus Christ.
This happens because people have refused the Love of the truth, which is Jesus Christ who was sent by the Father out of Love to save the world [see John 3:16-18].
Â
2 Thessalonians 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
That is why, you should Seek the Lord.
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger
The Lord Jesus Christ, the salvation in whom the Prophets foretold would come. In Him alone is salvation. Prepare yourself and your loved ones today.
Â
Acts 4:10 Â Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved
