Don’t eat Danish food — eat the Danes

Hamas children’s TV dedicated a program to hatred of Denmark, the West and Israel, climaxing with a statement about the West by the co-host, a giant rabbit character named Assud:

“If they repeat it we will kill them … I will bite them and eat them!”

The program focuses on the demand to boycott Danish and Israeli products. Denmark and the West are targeted because of the cartoons featuring Muhammad that first appeared in a Danish newspaper. Israel is targeted because it exists. Saraa, the young TV hostess, describes the publication of the Muhammad cartoons as “the West’s attack against the Messenger [Muhammad].”

Palestinian children phone into the program to condemn the “cowardly infidels” and vow to fight them.

(Note from JD) Our co-worker Anna is in New Zealand attending Children Bible Mission School. So our reports form leaders in China will be fewer than normal. We make two distributions to the persecuted church every year; one in the spring and one when I go to China in the fall and distribute in person. Thank you for your continued prayers and support for them.

Our former communications director in China just sent me a miraculous testimony which is below:

Dear All,
I know you all have been prayed for my father. After four months living with liver cancer, he died on Jan.14, 2008. And we all believe his spirit is in the Lord now. <>He was baptized when he was in Shanghai; many people said this kind of cancer will be very pained, and afraid he will suffered a lot, however, Lord heard our prayer and protected him and in his last days, he never feel pain again and left the world peacefully.

Even the night before his dying, my brother who was in the hospital and took care of him, heard clearly he cried three times: Lord, save me! And the next day, he told my elder sister to prepare clothes for him as he knows he will leave the world that day. Further more, Lord even arranged all the other two sick men in his sick berth are all Christians and give him so warmly love and care during the days when he was in hospital! My father is a testimony and a miracle to our family and all the people around him. So I know Lord love me and my family and will never abandon us!

40 CHINESE HOUSE CHURCH LEADERS DETAINED
February 24, 2008

Xilinhaote City, Inner Mongolia- China Aid has learned that the President of the Inner Mongolia Branch of the Chinese House church Alliance, Wang Dawei, was detained along with more than 40 co-workers on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. The leaders were in the 3rd day of Bible study when more than 100 Police officers from the State Security Bureau and members of the Religious Affairs bureau disrupted the meeting and detained the ministers. Police officials also confiscated the offering collection and more than 30 boxes of Bibles and other Christian literature. Security Bureau members then searched the personal residence of Wang Dawei later on in the afternoon. The leader of the meeting, a South Korean minister, was also detained during the incident, his whereabouts remain unknown.

The intensity of persecution amongst members of the Chinese House Church Alliance continues to increase as the Beijing Olympics draw near. This latest incident highlights the hypocrisy of Chinese officials who promote a “Harmonious Society” while simultaneously persecuting innocent and patriotic citizens such as Wang Dawei and others. We urge the Chinese Government to release these Christians and remain consistent with its own rhetoric on Religious freedom and rule of law.

Mounting Fears of Assyrian Genocide in Iraq

AINA) — According to Assyrian Christian leaders in Iraq (AINA 5-10-2007), the future existence of Iraq’s dwindling Christian population hangs in the balance as violence continues unabated. Moreover, direct blame has been leveled at Iraqi governmental as well as Coalition forces’ inaction in the face of mounting attacks against Christian population centers.
The primary focus of the community’s concerns now centers on the deteriorating security situation of the Assyrian (also known as Chaldean and Syriac) Christians in the Dora neighborhood of Baghdad. The Dora neighborhood lies 10 kilometers southwest of Baghdad. Prior to the war, the predominantly Christian neighborhood was home to over 5000 Christian households. Since the war and the subsequent insurgency, the overwhelming majority have fled the area.
Some observers have noted that the recent threats and attacks have escalated proportionately as the “surge” has increased pressure on insurgents. On May 18, St. George Church was burned down by Islamist arsonists (AINA 5-18-2007). The same church had survived an earlier bombing along with 5 other churches on October 16, 2004 (AINA 10-16-2004). On May 20, Fr. Hanna was kidnapped in Baghdad (AINA 5-20-2007). In April, Christian residents of Dora were given an ultimatum to either pay the jizya (AINA 4-17-2007, 3-18-2007), a “protection” tax demanded by the Koran, convert to Islam, or leave. Those choosing to leave were reportedly not allowed to take their possessions with them as these were said to “now belong to the mosque” (AINA 5-18-2007). At least 21 families unable to circumvent the insurgent forces besieging the neighborhood have found refuge in nearby churches. The May 20 church burning has heightened fears that even churches are no longer safe for Assyrian Christians.

2 CHRISTIAN WOMEN STRIP SEARCHED

Yunan Province- China Aid has learned that two Christian women, Meng Xiu Lan- 55, and Zhou Cheng Xiu- 53, were detained by police in Jun Tun County on February 2, 2008. Policemen from the Jun Tun police department detained the women after they were found distributing Christmas cards. The two women were first threatened and mocked by police before being stripped completely nude and frisked violently.

Police then handcuffed the two women and escorted them back to their homes. After searching the homes, police illegally confiscated CDs, handouts, Bibles, song books and calendars, without proper documentation. The suffering and humiliation that these two Christian women were forced to endure is both shocking and horrendous. The PRC has failed to be consistent in its rhetoric on religious freedom and rule of law.

Memorial to David Y. Raju and His Lord whom he served with his whole heart!

I am taking time this moment to reflect on a brother in Christ. This brother is named David Y. Raju, a man of God, who worked in India. The emails are originals and do not have an error or English correction so as to let it be in the original of the letter(see at end of this article). We have worked with Pastor Raju for many years. Our prayers go out to him, his family, and all those children and others who loved him so.

Pastor Raju was driving alone in his car when he had a heart attack. Now he is with the Lord. So many times we get busy, not realizing how close eternity is. David was a good friend, brother, and worked hard at what he saw was a great need in India. As with many of the true brothers in India, he took in homeless children and had many in his Orphans home.
